Swamp People Season 2: Improving Upon its Craze

Whether you are a teenager or a senior, chances are that you have at least heard, if not seen the super reality TV series Swamp People on History Channel. It is one reality TV show having tremendous TRP ratings and popularity hard to match by other programs. You may have seen alligators up close on Discovery and Nat Geo Channel programs, but that is nothing when compared with what one gets to see in Swamp People. The great Swamp in Louisiana is one marshy land inhabited by native people called Cajuns who have traditionally been involved in hunting and fishing for a living. Alligator hunting is one of their daily activities that is full of action and adventure. History Channel embarked upon the idea of showing live the hunting of alligators in the Swamp by the natives as well as outsiders who have the necessary license to do so.

The series started in September last year and currently Swamp People season 2 is being aired. Beware; this is not a series for everyone. The way animal is shown getting hurt intentionally by humans, and sometimes even getting killed in the process, is no doubt a very thrilling activity for many people but there still are some who do not like the idea of wounding and killing animals. Despite bad word from some quarters of press and media, the reality series has become very popular and the channel has become synonymous with the program. So much so that crazy fans talk about the serial as Swamp People History Channel.

Like it or not, killing some alligators during the hunt season in the month of September has become a necessity to keep the overall population of gators within managing limits which is why Louisiana State formally invited hunters with a valid license to come to the swamp area and engage in alligator hunting within some rules and regulations that have been framed to not allow any harm to the ecosystem. History Channel is doing its bit in popularizing the adventurous activity of gator hunting. One of the unique ways to promote the annual hunting activity is by making and selling Swamp People shirts that have the words and phrases written over them. The craze for these shirts among fans who watch the series regularly is to be seen to be believed. It is evidence enough of how avidly fans of Swamp people watch it and take pride in wearing the utterances of the hunters that come out amidst exciting and thrilling activities during alligator hunting.

Despite what many believe, hunting is regulated and hunters are given a few tags per season and the season for a hunter is over once he has exhausted his tags. Alligator hunting is a very dangerous activity and there have been instances of hunters themselves getting injured in the process. Nevertheless, the very fact that more and more people are coming forward to get them enlisted as cast for the next season is evidence of the amazing popularity the series has attained.
