Surrounded by the states of Texas, Oklahoma, Mississippi and Arkansas Louisiana is the home of the world-renowned swamp people. The Louisiana swamps stretch for almost a million miles and consist of the typical tropical swamps that are available elsewhere in the world in fragmented patches. The LA swamps have that inhospitable environment with tall deciduous cypress trees wrapped by a blanket of moss and ferns and rising tall above the ground. These trees grow so close to one another and are so densely populated that the sunlight rarely reaches the ground. This gives the basic swampy atmosphere to the breathtaking swamps of Louisiana.

The swamps though are not totally inhabited.  The swamp people history channel has found out that there are extensive alligator ponds in these swamps. The LA swamps also are well known for the extensive species of birds, insects, reptiles and other amphibians and smaller animals that have made these swamps their home. The natives of the LA Swamps are also known as Cajuns and they have their own sets of cultures, beliefs and discipline standards not commonly stand out amongst others.  The food of the Cajuns is famous until this day and they would rather invite you to have food with them so that they can prove their cooking powers as well.

If you were closely following the swamp people History Channel, you would get to familiarize yourself with their type of life and living and the various customs and rituals they undertake from time to time. Though outwardly shy, these people are particularly reputed for their alligator hunting skills. They have a unique prowess in hunting these alligators and they enjoy amongst themselves a 30-day alligator hunting festival. The laws of the state of LA are extensively strict enough to allow alligator-hunting keeping in mind that this in no way leads to a decimation of their population beyond repair. Hunting leads to harvesting and this policy is followed strictly by the LA authorities. The swamp people history channel records how the government has taken all precautions to ensure that there is no illegal poaching of alligators.

The swamp people came to news when one of their members was arrested for causing injury to the Sheriff’s office deputy. This person was already a part of the swamp people history channel episode and was upset about not being listened. He scampered off into the woods but there were other deputies who swarmed the woods and pulled him out. Known to be shy in nature, swamp people are loud and boisterous in their own clan but they do respect the laws of the land and are aware of the eventual consequences in the event of a breach of law.

Swamp people season 3 is the latest of the reality show endeavors of the life and love of these people and the way they go about their day-to-day life. They openly admit that to them what matters most is the Cajun way of life, which includes alligator hunting, trapping, fishing, turtle hunting, shrimping and when they have nothing to do, lazing in the immense backwaters of the rivers in the Atchafayala swamp.
